I keep thinking that it would be nice for components to also go toward upgrading time. That way, WSP 2.0 doesn't only give me new equipment that will never be used or upgraded on the current system, but perhaps helping me buff up my current hanger a little faster. I might be more inclined to go for using a new bot & weps if it didn't take a year to bring it up to my current hanger level. That seems like a reasonable trade off....WSP can either help get new equipment, or help boost old stuff.
