Atelang 7 years agoExpert level III player here with just over 2,300 victories. When I started playing, the predominant meta was a game with various bots and weapons with different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. The challenge was to build a hangar that was competitive in a variety of circumstances dictated mostly by the map being played. Beacon rush was introduced, and it was, and is, the best feature of the game. It provided a quick means to direct confrontation on the battlefield and reduced the maddening commutes from the original spawn locations. Unfortunately for Pixonic, it allowed some of the old bots and weapons to remain competitive.
So, here come the multiple hangars and ability to select hangars AFTER the map is revealed. All the spenders bought additional hangars, bots and weapons tailored for different maps. So, here I am with my original collection of bots and weapons, that I'm still trying to upgrade, facing hangars of long-range weapons on the larger maps. If that wasn't enough, TDM was introduced that further enhanced the ability of teams to sit back with hangars of long range weapons and hydras. Multiple times I have lost my first bot without being able to fire a shot, and a couple of times have even lost two bots with no shots fired.
I have no level 12 bots or weapons yet, and I just calculated the time and silver required to upgrade each bot and weapon by one single level. It will take 64 days of actual upgrade time (not counting any slack time) and 382 million silver for this upgrade, but I'll finally have some level 12 equipment in ONE hangar. The only reason I'm still playing is the hope that 2018 brings some decent changes for the loyal, if somewhat frugal, player. If we're going to be forced to play TDM and King of the Hill as part of a continuing rotation, I'm done. I'm completely SICK of these modes. This is no longer fun to play. It's more like a daily chore that's required to obtain resources for hopefully better days ahead.
Potential Improvements
1. Provide opportunity for simultaneous upgrades. While I'm trying to upgrade my old hangar, I could at least be upgrading some other equipment for the future or for another hangar if I ever decide to fork over the 7,500 gold.
2. The additional upgrade feature could be paired with a reduction in premium costs. $10/month for premium AND an additional upgrade slot.
3. Change the pairing algorithm to focus on bots/weapons levels instead of player level. Player skill level is secondary in this game - weapon strength is most important. I guarantee that if any level 30 player was given unlimited access to MK2 Level 12 equipment, they would climb into Champion league within a couple of weeks.
4. For crying out loud, be transparent with your dealings! This slot machine mentality is not a good way to build trust with customers. I have over one million tokens that I'd like to use on a premium bot, but I have no idea if it's possible. I once blew around 10,000 gold obtaining a tempest, which was a complete ripoff.
I'm on the edge Pixonic. Either make some changes that benefit the casual player, or I'm done. Yes, I'm just one player, but I'm sure I speak for many.
