Sadly, not true. Unless there's a magical spell you need to chant prior to doing this that I don't know, the only people you can search for are those that participated in the last three matches. So unless you are lucky enough for your friend to be matched on either side in the last three matches, you are SOL forever. Epically STUPID system. Fix it!
